Announcing Hope Dallas
Our family moved to Dallas in 2015 to help start a ministry for kids in tough situations. During that time, we saw first hand the needs of so many struggling and hurting people. Beyond the glitz and glamour that Dallas is often known for, we met so many families living with struggle and poverty. From single moms to the working poor to the refugees finding themselves in a new country, these are beautiful lives full of purpose and potential.
The names behind these stories confirmed a calling given to us over 15 years ago - God spoke that our lives were to be given to provide hope to those struggling - and in our hearts, we know that the time to act is now.
So, we are excited to announce that we are launching a new ministry with the name Hope Dallas.
Hope Dallas will serve as a ministry with a vision for people to be fully alive and transformed with the support of initiatives like Youth Leadership Clubs in local schools, Reading Buddies, Family Dinners, Discipleship Groups, and one day, a Hope Community Center. One story at a time, our desire is to continue to build relationships that ignite hope and build strong lives.
Hope Dallas is for families like the Martinez family. We met this family during our time directing another nonprofit. After Hurricane Harvey, this single mom and her three kids relocated to East Dallas and were living in great poverty. The two elementary-aged kids were going home alone and needed a positive and faith-centered place to belong. Hope Dallas is for the families of students at the local middle school where Lacey teaches - families in tough situations who are full of so much potential but who need additional support, tools, and community to be developed into healthy people who know Jesus and do beautiful things in our world.
What we’ve learned is that there are thousands of people in our city crippled in darkness not living lives of hope, passion, or joy. Despite all of this, a light is still shining because God deeply cares and is still at work.
The next few months are critical for Hope Dallas, and we covet your prayers for the transformation of lives on the other side of this work. This vision cannot be accomplished alone, and we need many to play a part. Would you be in prayer with us for Hope Dallas? We will be forming a core team, hosting gatherings, reaching out into our community, piloting a Youth Leadership program, leading a missional college internship, and raising additional funds. At the same time, we will keep our “day” jobs - Lacey will continue teaching at our local middle school, and I will continue working as a Database Administrator for a local private school.
We'd be honored to have you walk alongside us and partner with us for the work here in Dallas. Together, we can change lives.... Together, we can ignite hope.
